The Plum Blossom by Yusef Lateef
Love & Light - Sandro Perri
Hold on. Stand still. Yes, you, stand still. Take a deep breath and for once in your life admire the beauty around you. You could be anywhere; in a park, college library, coffeeshop, airport, home, or anywhere. Pay close attention, let the sound waves flow into your ears and listen to every note and tone. Do you listen to the high fidelity? You can almost hear the individual plucks of the guitar and the percussion trembling the air. Close your eyes, and take it all in! Now open your eyes wide and absorb the colors and it’s gentle differences in hue and brightness. Observe the tiny imperfections that you have never bothered to noticed, see how beautiful they are? It’s the tiny imperfections that make things memorable for the eyes. Now breath in and let the delightful array of scents fill your lungs. Some scents might be off-putting and others may be absolutely gratifying, but every scent is important because they tell us immense amounts of information. Now take your hands and feel the textures around you. The friction is different, some things feel inviting and others feel rough. Touch can also detect the tiny imperfections that make something truly beautiful. At this very moment, it doesn’t matter where you are or what you are doing, you are surrounded by beauty so take some time in your life and enjoy every bit of it.
